What is Inlay Work (Pachchekari) ?

The answer is that the marble inlay work (known as Pachchekari) with precious & semi precious stones..........on white, black, green marble stones was introduced by Mughals in India in 17th Century.

The decoration of Taj Mahal is done by this art. Taj Mahal was build by the Emperor Shahjahan his memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz mahal process of setting gem stones with color combination called inlay work. The art of marble inlay is a traditional from of art which is confined to Muslim community of Agra.
